Does the Bangladesh Election Commission play an effective role in the electoral governance process? To what extent do the current legal framework and the political culture support electoral governance?
Let's hear it from the insider!
This book provides an in-depth analysis of the electoral governance process in Bangladesh, which extends beyond the electoral process itself. Bangladesh has a long-standing tradition of electoral violence and discontentment. During the electoral process, the Bangladesh Election Commission (BEC) has been a frequent subject of criticism. In this book, the author examines and evaluates the degree to which the BEC is independent and autonomous. The reader will gain an in-depth understanding of the relevant political culture, the respective roles of political parties, the institutional capacity, and the legal framework of the BEC.
